Brenda lives in Hawaii with her tropical flowers and birds, six well-behaved dogs, three cats, and two adorable rabbits. Brenda was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA and has a business degree. Her parents began reading to her and her brothers and sisters at a very young age. In fact, her local library was practically located right in her backyard. She could throw a stone and hit it, it was that close! The librarians there were her mentors. Her passion for volunteering and reading had branded her heart for life. Before she wrote children’s books, Brenda was in sales for many years. Tired of the cold, she moved to Hawaii and after living in Hawaii for many years, she loves to talk story with the locals and tourists. Brenda loves to walk the National Park and photograph tropical flowers, while basking in the sweet-smelling lifestyle. Her son is in the Navy, defending our country. So, she keeps very busy creating original tales, and reading stories to children at local libraries. Her own art as a writer has grown since becoming a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI). One of Brenda’s favorite sayings is by Matshona Dhliwayo who said, “Today’s tears water tomorrow’s gardens.”
